Roy Andersson about both the banality and beauty of our daily existence.
In About Endlessness we are taken by the soft voice of a woman. It is a kind of fairytale voice, a Scheherazade that tells us the eternal story. About the beauty and cruelty of life. As she talks, we see a pastor who has lost his faith, a father in the rain tightening his daughter’s laces, a defeated army in the cold.
The Swedish director and commercial filmmaker Roy Andersson is known from his feature film Songs from the Second Floor (2000). In 2014 he won a Golden Lion with A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence. With About Endlessness he is once again reflecting on both the banality and beauty of our daily existence.
