For the release of the memoirs of her mother, the French film icon Fabienne (Catherine Deneuve), daughter Lumir (Juliette Binoche) returns to Paris with her family from New York. However, when she has some questions about her mother’s imaginative biography, Fabienne doesn’t have time to talk about it. She is busy preparing a new film project. The reunion between mother and daughter turns into a fierce confrontation.
La vérité (The Truth) is the first film made by acclaimed director Hirokazu Kore-eda (Shoplifters and Like Father, Like Son) outside his native Japan. The film opened the previous Venice Film Festival.
