Dengbêjên Me is a feature-length documentary that gives voice to the last remaining dengbêjs of a generation, traditional Kurdish storytellers and singers whose art preserves collective memory through oral tradition. The film turns its attention to this fading cultural practice, passed down from generation to generation, offering an intimate portrayal of the everyday lives, memories, and inner worlds of dengbêjs living in different cities and villages. Rather than simply documenting performances, the film captures the emotional landscape of a tradition under threat, revealing the ongoing struggle to preserve a cultural heritage that is increasingly at risk of disappearance. Through song, storytelling, and silence, Dengbêjên Me becomes both an homage and a living testimony to Kurdish oral history and resilience.
