Naharina | AKFF

Amsterdam Koerdisch Film Festival

Naharina are the inhabitants of the rivers of Syrian Kurdistan, creating cooperatives, communes, and women's homes. Until Turkey has dried up the rivers.

Naharina are the descendants of the peoples who inhabited Mesopotamia thousands of years ago. Those who make the communal their essence and the coexistence between different ethnic groups their strength. But there is no river anymore, Turkey has dried it up making millions of people impossible to live. However, Kurds, Arabs and other ethnic groups continue to work to build communes, women’s houses, cooperatives, and an alternative security model.
