Ketelhuis Expat
Afghanistan, 2021, shortly before the Taliban return to power. Naru, the only female camera operator at Kabul’s most important television station, is fighting to maintain custody of her three-year-old son. Ever since leaving her unfaithful husband, she—like most Afghan women—has become convinced that there are no good men left in her country. That is why Naru is surprised when Qodrat, Kabul TV’s top journalist, offers her a career opportunity. As they travel across the city together to report on the final days of freedom, sparks fly between them, and Naru begins to question her belief. Could there actually be a good man out there after all?
With No Good Men, director, screenwriter, and lead actress Shahrbanoo Sadat aims to present a different, more authentic side of Afghanistan—filled with humor and romance. No Good Men opened the recent Berlin International Film Festival.
