Flavio Aulino on the movie he selected for this month:

A delightful comedy of errors directed by Veronesi in a state of grace.
Young Pilar Fogliati, a sparkling newcomer among the best up-and-coming Italian performers, plays Vittoria, a theater actress whose career was ruined in the past because of plagiarism. Sergio Castellitto, increasingly good and so intense and funny that he steals the show from the protagonists themselves, plays Federico Landi Porrini, a sacred monster of the theater now in decline.
To regain fame and credibility, Landi Porrini has decided to stage a new and modern version of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. However, he needs new faces and actors to bring freshness to the Shakespearean masterpiece. Vittoria, determined to win the part of Juliet, shows up for the audition but fails miserably, and Landi Porrini kicks her out badly. The girl decides to get her revenge and, with the help of a makeup artist friend (Geppi Cucciari), disguises herself as a man and auditions again for the role of Romeo. Landi Porrini is amazed by the ‘young man’s’ talent and beauty and decides to make him the new star of contemporary theater.
From here begins the web of misunderstandings that leads to the sparkling finale. Veronesi, assisted in the screenplay by Pietro Valsecchi and Fogliati herself, crafted a hilarious and tragic comedy that shed light on contemporary Italian theater, with narcissistic and self-centered directors and actors ready to do anything to get the role or forced to be delivery guys to survive.

Cineville-tickets will be available from the 10th of June
