June 1940. France surrenders to the German army and signs the armistice. Amidst the chaos, one man refuses to accept the situation: General de Gaulle. Now a newly declared enemy of the state, he flees—with neither an army, support, nor hope—to London to pick up the pieces of his fallen fatherland. De Gaulle holds one unwavering belief: a new, free France and Europe that will not lay down its arms against Nazi Germany.
