GotûbêJin | AKFF
Amsterdam Koerdisch Film Festival
A traveling cinema lights up the night in Kurdish towns — and with it, a conversation ignites among women confronting patriarchy head-on.
By showing cinema and engaging in feminist dialogue, this documentary aims to discuss patriarchy with Kurdish women. The documentary follows a travelling cinema workshop in Bakurî Kurdistan in the towns of Dersim, Amed and Van. There, women watch Kurdish films and open an honest dialogue and discussions on female representation in film, the meaning of patriarchy and how this affects their lives. GotûbêJin – a play on words between the verbs “gotin/bêjin” (to say) and “jin” (woman)
